Khayelihle FS C2C 12km Challenge

This is a challenging route beginning at the eThembeni Cemetary at the bottom of Lincoln meade. 

After the start it crosses the uMsunduzi river before curling through picturesque Bishopstowe. Past the subburbs of Glenwood, Eastwood and Mountain Rise to finish down the historic palm lined avenue of Mountain Rise Cemetery.

There is a balance of climb and descent, country and city. The ideal time and place to set your standard for the new season

Enter on line at or at Khayelihle FS, 40 Langalibalele Street, until 24th July 2017. Thereafter, at the start between 5.30am & 6.30am or until the limit of 500 entries is reached

The Route

The first edition of the Khayelihle FS C2C 12km Challenge takes place on Sunday 3oth July 2017. The inaugural event starts at 7am sharp at the Ethembeni Memorial Gardens at the end of Rodgers Road, off Grimthorpe Avenue, in Lincoln Meade. After crossing the Msunduzi River the route winds through the picturesque countryside of Bishopstowe and then past the suburbs of Glenwood, Eastwood and Mountain Rise, to finish in the palm lined, historic avenue of the entrance to Mountain Rise. The route is run on tarred roads and is not a trail run.

Walkers are welcome and there is a time limit of two hours and 30 minutes allowing the last official finisher time until 9.30am,

The first 500 entrants will be rewarded with event T shirts (one size fits most), and all participants will be served by three refreshment stations along the route. There will be parking at the finish venue as well as at the start. Security Guards will be on hand to discourage loiters whilst you take part. There will be a limited shuttle service from the finish to the start with the service being offered from 5.30am and the last minibus leaving at 6.15am. There will be a similar service from the finish to transport those back, who chose to park at the start. If you have the luxury of a driver for your vehicle, we respectfully request that these vehicles follow the route from the start to the finish via the N3 or Town and not on the route.

Pre entering is easy. Go on line to and click the link. Payment for on line entries can be made, very easily and securely, through our SAGEPAY payment gateway. There are numerous convenient payment options. You can pay by credit card, remembering that you must have the security of your credit card activated; i-pay (this logs you directly and securely into your on line banking) for on line bankers; Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or Direct Deposit at a bank or ATM, where you must please only use the reference number as supplied by SAGEPAY; masterpas or, finally, a CASH option. Print the barcode. Take it to the teller at one of the listed stores or the Post Office and ask the cashier to scan the code and accept your payment.

If you wish to complete a paper entry form, this can be dropped off, in an envelope, with your cash, in e red box at the Head Office of Khayelihle FS, 40 Langalibalele Street, Pietermaritzburg or handed in to the folk accepting them at Carbineers Drill Hall between 5pm and 7pm Wednesday 19th or 26th July and Friday 28th July or on Saturday 29th July between 12noon and 3pm. You can take a chance on entering at the start but remember that C2C event T shirts are only guaranteed for the first 500 entries.

For your convenience we will also be available at the finish of Duzi Park Run between 8am and 9.15am this Saturday 22nd July 2017, to receive your entries and cash payment.

Your race number will be sms’d to you and you will be able to collect your race number and shirt (if you qualify) at registration at Carbineers Drill Hall on Saturday afternoon, 29th between noon and 3pm or between 5.30am and 6.30am at the start.
